Moab 2013 Videos

Hello Peeps! Here are some videos of our Willys Rally Moab Trip. There will be more coming as my Daughter gets her pictures and videos downloaded, etc. Enjoy. Pivnic

This Video is of Floyd going over the "Golden Crack" or "Golden Spike" in Moab.

This Video is Floyd during a FOUR HOUR Ordeal trying to get off the Mesa before Dark. Due to Fuel System problems with one of our rigs, we didn't make it out in Daylight. It was decided that Casey and Us would continue on and Alvin and his Dad stay and try to fix the fuel problem. This video shows Floyd (Driven Up By my Son in Law Alvin) making it up an obstacle in the Darkness of Night. It was very hard at times to know if you were on the trail, or on the right trail, or if you were driving off a two foot ledge or a 1200 foot Cliff when it's Pitch Black Darkness! We got back to our cabin at 10:30PM. Alvin and his Dad got back at around 2:00AM. I am now planning to install LED lighting inside my wheel wells directed outward so it lights up the obstacles at night to help navigate through them. I would also like to install a small camera in the front with a display screen inside the cab to enable me to see over the steep ledges that we drove through. Bill, Can you send me some info on this? Thanks. Click on this link: Pivnic

Hi Michael. You say you're doing the same project... Do you mean the Chevy Chassis Conversion or the Cab Extension? Have you seen my Build Log? If not, here is the link. Hopefully it will help you out with your project.
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3805815/1957-willys-pickup/ Holler if you have any questions about either. (I'm thinking about starting the cab extension project this Winter maybe) Good Luck with your project. Be sure to document it (Make a Build Log) and take and post lots of pictures! Pivnic

Great vid John/Kari but, I'm think Kari was like, I think I'll walk to the other side. Hahaha
Hey John, did you get that e-mail on the seats I sent?

Hi Tom & Barb. I hope that your trip is going well. I got a message that you sent it, but my Forum inbox was full apparently and it did NOT get to me! Can you send it to my regular email? Try: pivnic_43@yahoo.com Thanks man. It was great meeting you guys in Moab! Safe Travels! John (Pivnic)

Thanks for the encouragement

I'm taking some pics as I go. I like to work on the truck better than type on computer, so I don't know if my project is going to help others very much.. It sure has been nice to see other Willys owner share their wisdom.

frame swap

John can you provide me with the drill hole location for the brake booster on the firewall. I have plans to use the brake booster off the 82 Chevrolet C10. I haven't hung the pedal assembly yet. I am also planning to use the stock steering column from the C10. Did you use the stock steering column or something else?

Hi Michael. I hung the pedals first, as then you can determine where the brake booster should be located on the firewall. Note: If you are using the stock Willys firewall, you should reinforce the firewall before you do anything, as the stock firewall was not designed to support the added weight of a brake booster. I would think that the "exact location" for the booster is dependent on your setup. Measure, measure, measure!

I did not use the stock steering column (I still have it if anyone wants to buy it). I wanted to use the Chevy Donor Truck's steering column, but it was too long and I didn't really want to cut it to size (even though that is common). After more research, I found out that an 80s Jeep Cherokee steering column was REALLY a GM steering column It turned out that it was totally compatible to my Chevy Donor Truck and the Donor Truck's wiring harness plugged right into the Cherokee's column! SWEET! My Cherokee's column was an 1989. Back in that era, Jeep was 'owned' by AMC and AMC used MANY GM parts. It worked great for my project. Good Luck with your project. I hope this info helped you. John (aka: Pivnic)

I've had a couple requests to post something about the M929 6X6 Five Ton Military Truck that my Son in Law Alvin and his Dad Craig bought with three other guys. The day after Christmas, I drove Alvin and his Dad to Hays KS to pickup this giant truck. Once we got to Hays and Alvin did a little bit of prep work on the truck and fueled it up, we hit the road back to Colorado. This video is of the Truck going West Bound on I-70 flat out at 60 MPH. It was a long day of driving to Hays and back to Denver on the same day. Enjoy. Pivnic
