Hello,
Im totally newby at towing vehicles and i need to take my PU ~60 miles to the vehicle registration office.
My truck runs and goes and we just rebuild the engine, but since it have licences plates that are from 20+ years ago i cant drive it on the major avenues, if im lucky enough to see a cop on the way i might get a $300 ticket. So tow it is the only way to go. A dolly is too expensive and i dont want to rent one because i might need to tow it in the future. My plan is to flat tow using a Reese(autozone) tow bar.
The things that worry me are the adapters mount for the PU, and wich gear of the T90 should i use to tow it?
My brother have a Chevy 78 pickup wich we are going to use to two the willys, it dont have the adaptor yet so we will need to figured out how to mount it.
We want to mount that on the truck.
I dont know if it this frame is good enough to tow 3200 lbs.
The height shouldnt be a problem, right?
I cant figured out how to mount the Reese bar without major modifications,
i think the faster would be to take off the bumper and remplace it with a long plate where the tow bar can be adjusted.
My 1948 pickup have the T90 with the Dana 18 transfer case, a Dana 44 5:38:1 on the rear and Dana 25 on the front, but only one locking hub on the front passenger wheel.
Also any advice about towing would be welcome and appreciated.
Thank you!
