Hey guys, can anyone shed some light on how to remove the arm that comes off the steering box in my 1957 pickup? Or how to disconnect the the steering column from the box? I fig myself very sweaty and frustrated after last night trying to remove it, should I use a gear puller to remove the arm ?

Thank you, Nathan

Or how to disconnect the the steering column from the box?

Steering column is just a tube - the shaft inside the tube goes top to bottom ending in a gear that's in the box.

The shaft is part of the worm gear inside the box. You have to get the pitman arm off first, then remove box and column as an assy. Through the cab. Then box side cover then pitman shaft then top cover then steering (worm) shaft. Careful uncaged ball bearings top and bottom of worm shaft.

Thanks a ton I was working on it when I replied I got it out I couldn't get the arm off lacking the tool but I removed the cover and had enough play to push the shaft in and remove the worm thank you so much for the reply
