Willys Wagon on K5 Blazer frame

When I said boatsides, I didn't mean to cut into the doors and all that. I only meant to lay a flat piece of steel on the body mounts under the body.

Can you draw this out, I am too stupid to visualize it right now.

If you go to the first page, seventh post down, you will see Pivnics body mount. If the body mounts are the same distance from the frame, there will be a place to lay a flat piece of steel on ,then at an angle. Pivnics rig is a truck and I have a wagon so, the body mounts are probably way different.

I did some quick measurements between my 82 K5, and 51 Wagon.
May be off an inch either way, but close enough to start making some plans..

Rear axle center to firewall: K5 87-88 in, Willys 81-82 in
Firewall to headlight buckets in Willys: 34 in
SBC rear to water pump bolts, long water pump: 29 in
Max width of radiator, at headlight buckets (to remain inside hood and trimming inner fenders): 34-35 in. Without trimming, 29.5 in

So I see why the build notes I found mention moving the motor back 6 in.
There should be plenty of room for a good size radiator in there, moved forward to almost touching the headlight bucket.

Hi Jim. Sounds like you have a plan and checking it out good. Where in CO are you located? I've done a Chevy Chassis Conversion on my 57 Willys Pickup. Much the same kind of thing. Post lots of pictures once you start your project. If you're close, we can get together and compare notes. Good Luck, John (aka: Pivnic)

I am in Lake George, not far at all. I occasionly ride my bike down 67 and thru your area actually!

Playing with Paint and my planned wheels..
I am going to run 37 x 12.5 MT tires, Stazworks double beadlocks, and 52 in flexy leafs on both ends.
I only want to lift it enough for about 4 in uptravel on a 14 in travel shock.. lots of droop flex.
I've got the 3/4 ton axles, 4.56 gears with lockers, 350/700R4 with 203/205 doubler...
But I need to get my Monte SS put back together, and then my knees fixed, before I'll start on the Willys... later this year hopefully.

Getting close to starting on this. I am looking at rivnuts inboard of the stock Willys mounts so the outriggers won't be so long. Then ad some K5 rocksliders or fab some to protect the body. I have the motor rebuilt in the K5 with Sniper EFI, and been working on little things on the Willys to get them both ready. Will continue on this thread with updates.
Can't believe its been since 2014 when I was working on this... LOL

Finally started on this swap. Freshened up motor in Blazer with aluminum heads cam and EFI. Working on pulling wagon apart but got interrupted by hospital visit. Hopefully will continue next week. I found a set of sliders with bump outs that should fit the front fenders and plan to build body mounts off those.
Have my double beadlocks and 37x12.5 tires ready. Plan is for longer 52 in front springs and slider boxes for good flex.

Blazer body off and sold. Now to remove all the old body mounts fuel lines and stock wiring.

Body on frame. Higher than I wanted but there are 3 body crossmembers that would have to be cut which I don't really want to do. The front inner fenders sit on top of the frame at this point. Looks like motor needs to go back 7 to 8 inches.

Should clear 37s with no lift.
Going to have to move motor all the way back to fit radiator and electric fan... And trim dog house to the strut brackets.

Moved my engine back 6", netted me 3 3/4" for a fan after radiator install. doing the firewall right now. Came in about 2 1/2".
My chassis was a 1976 Suburban K25, sectioned it 26 1/2" to get back to the stock 104"
