YNP by Wagon.....from Kansas.

Here is my mileage log for the trip. Started on the 7th ended on the 22nd.



3270 miles by the official count.

During that time I went through two bottles of oil toping off - to be honest though my new oil filter lines leak at the fittings and I am ready to pitch them. I had the same brand on a previous vehicle with no issues. Its on the list for maintenance.

I went through about a 1/2 a quart of gear oil in the trans/transfer/overdrive unit. There is a leak between the trans and transfer and from the front output shaft even though it has a new seal. Nothing horrible but I added a little each night on the long days. I checked the breather after days of doing an indicated 55-60mph and the it was dry. I probably need to replace the yoke or get one of those sleeves.

The fuel pump - up until the issue and then from the fix on worked great. I think I am going to assemble one pump from a range of pumps I have. Its also on the todo list

Before next years trip the plan is to replace 90% of the window seals. With all the rain we had they were an issue. Not a show stopper but I would like to keep the water out. Mainly I am talking about thebside windows.

Otherwise she is ready to go now for another trip. We were all happy taking it.

These boxes work great and fit perfectly.



Under the spare - Land Rover Jack and spare fluids.



A torque wrench rides in its case behind the back seats. It can torque a range of things up to the rear axle hub nuts.

With all of this I can fix or service just about everything including my old tractors, etc. For the most part the expensive stuff is hidden out of sight and is packed away so it doesn't rattle. Its a lot but it works and uses space made for tools or small stuff. It also leaves the cargo area wide open.

That's a very nice kit. This info would make a very nice first post in the Garage forum in a new thread discussing what to pack for trips in an old Willys. Just saying.

Are you planning this trip again this year? Would be cool if you got to venture down into Colorado this year.

We are, thanks for asking. The current plan is to head up through Nebraska and up into South Dakota, across Wyoming into Cody and Yellowstone and then down the west side of the state to Utah, Colorado and then across the south through the Sand Dunes and home across Kansas. We added some days in the park and generally set the out of park days to around 350 miles per day max to not burn out.

I am working on some things with the wagon; window seals, just finished the transmission overhaul, etc to get it ready. I may install a vintage am radio. We will see as we get closer.

I have the vacation time blocked at work, three weeks this time. After spending 7 months in Japan and Germany since January of 2018 in 2-3 week increments I had no trouble getting the green light.

I plan to write it up again in another thread. Tune in early this June.

The Cody, Wyoming "Cody night rodeo" that runs 90 days through the summer turns 100 years old this year!

Yes! Late to this party, but not too late to get some new and great ideas!!!!

Quick question; (OK, two questions). Is that a stock wagon jack? And, is that the stock stowage location? I think I have a stock jack for my '55 pickup, but wonder about what's right for my '58 wagon. OK, a third question; what's the correct lug nut wrench look like? (Sorry! your awesome travel stories get my mind wondering almost as much as you and your jeeps do!)
