Aside from my wife and kids, this is our little furry companion, Tommy. He's a playful, little fella that has been with us for many years now. He usually likes to play with his squeaky toy, bark at passing cars, and even comes along for the ride in our family trips (though we'd have to settle him in his dog car seat, otherwise he would distractingly jump on my lap while I drive). He's a good, adorable companion, overall.

This is Chaz ..a now 10 1/2 yr old Coton De Tulear ..(little over 6 in these pics).....IMG_4716.jpgIMG_4709.jpgIMG_4713.jpg.....He came to us from a local rescue group here in PHX that drove up and got him from another group that rescued him from a ...horrible very deplorable conditions!.. Puppy Mill in Colorado Springs that was raided and Shut the Fuck down by the FBI..!! ...Now he is with us and we usually try to take him with us to the local weekend car show ....and just loves being out and about and getting all kinds of attention ...IMG_0507.jpg...now there are times that we can not take him with us if we we know we are going elsewhere afterward say out to a restaurant or someplace wher we cant have him with us.

Now then if he sees that we are getting ready to go out,..and he hears that 454 start up and he finds that he is not in the truck....I guarantee you we will hear from him upon our return!!

These days my most frequent driving companions are a 38 or 22lr, 12 gauge, 223 and lots of predator calls. ...... I've had and loved my dogs, I've also had to put to many of them down (old age, cancer), can't do that again. ........... My first personal dog was a border collie/husky mix. What a great dog, smart as a whip. We spent a lot of time together, excellent truck dog. My dogs since her were hunting breeds, Springers, English Setters. All great dogs. The animals I have now will out live me, but I'm wondering if my parrots would like driving around with me. No I'm not THAT guy. :) But it does occure to me "That Guy" might not know he's that guy. Hmmmmm, something to ponder. :)

This is Cocoa Channel Bootsie. AKA Cocoa. (Named by a 14 year old girl.) She is now 8. Shelter mutt, 35 pound Beagle/Lab mix. She is an extremely affectionate snuggle dog that would fight to her death protecting her humans. She is not the sharpest tool in the shed, but smart enough to know mom sets the rules so keep her feet warm. She has strong predator instincts so she rarely barks. (UPS man bad, letter carrier okay, go figure) Always stocking and tracking scents. She goes everywhere with us. My kids call her Velcro because she follows me everywhere.

Cocoa as a warmer in the sleeping bag with my wife keeps my 50 something year old spouse still willing to tent camp. Cocoa loves to trout fish almost as much as my wife. (No joke, they both love sitting on the bank of a lake for hours)

She still goes nuts like a puppy and destroys Amazon boxes left in her day bed. She is a talker, she makes sounds whining, growling that are so human like it is funny, mostly when my wife gets home from work and speaks gently to her asking her how her day was.

Oldest daughter now lives out of state, visits once or twice a year. Cocoa pounces on her like no one else as if she remembers that daughter was with me the day we adopted her.

Great posts, my companions are in order of importance and need Jesus, AAA, and the lovely and talented Mrs. Martha. ( she keeps wanting me to get her a Willys of her own but I'm busting enough knuckles keeping this one going.)

My Golden Retriever Trapper. Still waiting for his Willys wagon but loves to ride in my son's CJ5. Poised here in North Dakota waiting to press the CRP on a Pheasant hunt.
