Hello, I am new here. I have a stuck engine on a 48 Jeepster. It has been sitting a long time. My father was working on restoring it many moons ago, but got side tracked with other projects. He typically had 15+ cars at a time.

I have put some Marvel Mystery oil under the spark plugs. The engine was restored and hasn’t been fired since, but it’s stuck from sitting so long. Any tips?

Please note that I’m not a mechanic and am dealing with my fathers cars out of necessity due to his health, so bear with me if I ask silly questions please. Also, I can’t seem to find a link to upload photos here?

My father has owned this since 1982 and started a restoration that was never complete. I have nic Upholstery, as well as NIB side curtains and roof. I also have a lot of receipts for many parts he bought from Jeepsterman and other vendors. It has been stored in a dry garage in central Texas.

Is is anyone willing to estimate value for insurance purposes? The engine is not connected, it does have a transmission and I appear to have most if not all of the parts for it.

Thank you.

The Marvel is a good start. Next I would put a big wrench on the crankshaft bolt. It's about a 1 7/16" head. That may break it free. If not, let it sit. Try again later. You may have to pull the head to bang on the pistons with a hammer and block of wood, but that is down the road. Hopefully a mouse didn't climb into a cyllinder and move in. That would be bad.
Does your father have any mechanic friends who can tackle something like this?

Thanks Digger. I do have some mechanic friends of his that can help if I’m not successful. I’ve bugged them a lot as I’ve been selling multiple cars, so I wanted to try myself before asking. Thanks again for your response and I will give this a go.
