I am not finding a lot of good clear detailed information on what pedal assembly and linkage that's needed when converting to a 225 V6 in a CJ2A. Would greatly appreciate how you did yours with lots of pics.

Thanks, Jim

I make my own linkage from hardware store items. Most reliable for me. 3/16 round stock, I thread the ends. Ball pivots on each end. I always put a jog in the link from the pedal to allow some flex and NOT put excessive pressure on the throttle shaft/s. The linkage is designed to always "pull" the throttle open, never push. Want a photo? let me know. It's still quite cold and dark up out here, right now.

I have done the same for my 3B. It is on its third version of this as the carb linkage didn't work well for the first throttle body and that didn't work well for the second one. But I have never put any kinks in the linkage. It is better to add stops to the system and maintain a straight pull. On my linkage, the bellcrank on the inside of the firewall is slotted so you can adjust the throw. All of this is 6061 aluminum and 1/4" OD rod.

When I installed the first sbc in this Willys in 1973, I used the linkage from a 67 CJ 5 with the 225. In short, that system sucks, most especially the suspended pedal.

Whose TBI system are you using John?

That is ProFlo4. It isn't ideal for what I was trying to accomplish with that engine. It uses a slightly modified version of the Victor Jr manifold which does anything but enhance low end torque. I'll probably revisit this. I previously contacted Wilson about fabricating something more appropriate but didn't want to wait that long to get this together. What would be perfect is an enlarged version of GM's original TPI system but, with this engine, even the aftermarket versions of that are going to run out of air at about 4500 rpm.

On my V6 CJ5 I originally installed a junkyard pedal set and cable linkage. Then I found a crashed '74 CJ5 and installed the swing pedals from that along with adapted cable linkage from a '77 Caprice. In other words, crawl around and find something you can adapt if you can't find a ready to go kit. I like using off-the-shelf standard parts rather than kits so that when it breaks I can just go to the parts store and buy replacements. Of course, that only works if I keep of list of what the parts actually came from and can actually find the list when I need it.

I've always put a little jog in my 1st link. The engine moves around a bit (motor mounts) and that needs to be compensated. Most OEM links on stuff I've worked on have some type of spring over travel device. But hey, whatawino?

I ended up buying this style pedal set up. " see pic below" several guys have used them and bought them from Lokar. I found this complete unit for around $70.00. They are Lokar's seconds so there are blems in the machining or? For the price I can live with a few nicks.
