When I let off the gas it sounds like the drive train is coming apart. When I accelerate it is okay. When I try to flat tow, it makes the same noise. It's hard to describe the sound, its not like grinding but almost a loud rattling. Also it vibrates when it happens. Any ideas, I was thinking driveshaft possibly

Maybe the pinion nut is loose. See if pinion yoke moves in and out.

My first guess also. With loose/damaged pinion bearings, when you decelerate the pinion moves back in the case, to the point it can chew up the carrier.
